Manteno State Hospital

Illinois had its share of shameful mental health facilities, including Manteno State Hospital. This article summarizes the fate of Gennie, one of its patients who had been to college and just didn't fit into her world. This site attempts to cover the history of this institution and doesn't sugar coat it.
