September's Book Discussion

The group was divided about how much they enjoyed Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. We all agreed that the main character, Jackson Brodie was a good-hearted man, we found that most of the other characters were pretty dysfunctional and the coincidences that bound them together stretched the boundaries of believability. We were impressed by the author's ability to tie up all the loose ends of the novel at the end and some felt it was a bit too neatly tied up. The characters, however, were all wonderfully drawn and we were relieved that it had a happy ending after all the really serious books we've been reading for several months.

Next month, we read White Tiger, a novel about contemporary India.

Hope to see you then!
